hype cycle

TechCrunch had a great post way back in August on hype cycles.  I've had this post in draft mode for months and thought it was time to let it loose...

TechCrunch Hype

What is interesting is that TechCrunch places social computing on it's way down to the trough of disillusionment while social network analysis is on it's way up the slope of enlightenment.  So does that mean that there really is an understanding and embracing of Value Networks or that people just love cool graphs showing connectedness?
