Gadgets = Food & Sex for Techies?

A really good read from the NY Times on how multi-tasking is affecting people - Hooked on Gadgets and Paying a Mental Price.

"While many people say multitasking makes them more productive, research shows otherwise. Heavy multitaskers actually have more trouble focusing and shutting out irrelevant information, scientists say, and they experience more stress."

Can our brains really handle the deluge of information coming our way?  How can KM help to cut through the data stream pollution and enable people to better manage their individual knowledge?
